On 21 March 2026 at Mukungwe Ggombolola Hall, and on 18 March 2026 at Kabasegwa Village, Ecocare held back-to-back community empowerment workshops. Both half-day events brought together 47 participants to learn about climate change causes, impacts, and practical measures.

On 18th April 2026 at Kitambuza Primary School in Senya ward, Ecocare held a workshop empowering communities on environmental conservation and tree planting. The activity brought together 45 participants (25 women, 20 men).

Ecocare has been at the forefront of environmental conservation efforts in Masaka City and the greater Masaka District. Through community sensitization workshops, tree planting drives, and sustainable land management training, we have empowered local communities to take ownership of their environment.

Our activities include training over 500 farmers in agroforestry practices, planting more than 10,000 indigenous trees, and conducting regular community clean-up campaigns.

Environmental conservation activities in Masaka

In 2025, Ecocare signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lyantonde District. This formal partnership marked a significant milestone in our efforts to mainstream environmental conservation across the district.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration, including joint environmental conservation initiatives, community sensitization programs, and the development of district-wide environmental conservation plans.

Following the success of our partnership in Lwengo, Ecocare has extended similar efforts to Isingiro District. We are working with local leaders and community members to develop comprehensive environmental conservation plans tailored to the region's unique challenges.

Our work focuses on sustainable land management, water conservation, and the restoration of degraded ecosystems. We are also promoting climate-smart agricultural practices.

In Kalungu District, Ecocare is addressing the complex challenges posed by sand mining and its impact on the environment. Sand mining has led to significant environmental degradation, including soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and water pollution.

Our approach involves working with sand miners, local communities, and district authorities to promote sustainable sand mining practices. We are raising awareness about the environmental consequences and advocating for the restoration of mined-out areas.

In Gomba District, Ecocare has been actively engaged in wetland conservation and community sensitization programs. Wetlands in Gomba are under threat from encroachment, unsustainable farming practices, and pollution.

Our interventions include community education on the importance of wetlands, sustainable farming practices, and the restoration of degraded wetland areas. We have also established wetland monitoring committees to ensure long-term protection.

In Ssembabule District, Ecocare has launched a large-scale tree planting and climate action initiative. The region is experiencing the effects of climate change, including prolonged droughts, erratic rainfall, and land degradation.

Our initiative involves planting thousands of indigenous trees, establishing tree nurseries, and training local communities in sustainable land management practices. We have also introduced climate-smart agricultural techniques to help farmers adapt to changing weather patterns.

On 18 March 2026, Ecocare held a community empowerment workshop at Kabasegwa Village in Diwolobo Parish, Lyantonde Sub-county, Lyantonde District. The half-day event (9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.) brought together 22 participants (5 women, 17 men) to learn about the causes and local impacts of climate change and practical measures they can adopt, including tree planting, responsible waste management, water conservation, and climate-smart land use.

The training fostered dialogue between youth, community leaders and partners, reinforced the importance of community-led conservation actions, and underscored Ecocare's call for continued collective effort to safeguard the environment for present and future generations.
